Counting blessings

No, no baby yet.  As much as I'd like that NOT to be true, I am realizing that sometimes it's best to look at the "bright side" . . . which, believe me, for this Type A/want things my way girl, is not an easy task right now.

Anyway, here's what I have come up with as blessings:

• Baby H. is active and healthy and growing (I just hope not too big!) right where he is.

• I still get that amazing experience of feeling him moving inside of me.  I wonder if I will miss that when he is born?

• He'll have an October birthday;  this is what Billy and my dad were hoping for, as both of their birthdays are also in October.  So, like my mom says, then men in our family will all share October as their birthday month!

• Today, October 1 is when our family insurance plan through Billy's new job at the University kicks in, so insurance/paperwork should be less of a hassle . . . we chose not to use the family insurance plan from my job because it is outrageously expensive, and were planning to add the baby to Billy's plan.  Then he got a new job  with a 30 day waiting period before benefits began (yikes!); we were able to get a temporary/COBRA policy from Billy's last job in case we needed it . . . but it was going to be a bit of a mess to get all the paperwork taken care of  - now it will just be much  simpler (and save us $$).  Whew!

• Billy and I have had a few more days to spend together as a couple (which sometimes has not been so fun, as we are both a bit stressed), but still has been nice.  We've eaten out quite a bit (in our quest for labor inducing meals, and due to my total lack of motivation to plan a meal), which is something we probably won't be doing much of in the near future.  While we are so excited for baby, it is amazing to think how drastically life is going to change for us! So we are trying to enjoy our free moments now.

• My mornings off . . . have been sheer bliss. I feel so much more refreshed to go to work in the afternoon when I have gotten enough sleep, and the swelling has had a chance to go down.  For a couple of weeks I was running on about 2-3 hours of sleep a night (from heartburn, nerves, discomfort), and was simply exhausted by the end of the school day. I dreaded going to work, and was miserable.  For the past week I have been blessed to be able to take 1/2 days off, and to have a long term substitute who is willing to work those 1/2 days for me -- Thanks Audra!!!  Now I look forward to interacting with both my 2nd graders and my great co-workers each day (I think staying home all day would drive me nuts - just waiting!).  It has also been a good transition time for me, as well as for my classroom and substitute.  Again, being that type A kind of gal, it is hard for me to "let things go" - and, as much as I can't wait to be home with baby and enjoy a nice break from work, I love my work (most of the time!) and was having a hard time not worrying about how things would go when I left.

We'll let you know when something happens . . . perhaps this little stinker will want to annoy his daddy and will decide to make an appearance during the Cubs game tonight! (Billy already bought him some Cubs apparel, but I think it is 12 month size) . . .Or his mommy who is looking forward to the premiere of Private Practice, also tonight.  I'm sure we will forgive him if that is the case!  If we have no action today, my next OB appt is on Thursday (tomorrow!) at 10:00!
