Let summer begin!

Another one bites the dust . . . (school year, that is!)

It's always a little bit bittersweet on the last day of school. The kiddos that I've spent 8 hours a day with for 178* days are moving on . . . and it can be hard to let them go.  A teacher invests a lot into each child, and although I'm super excited for summer to be here, it is still a little sad on the last day.  It's also tough to say good-bye to co-workers who are retiring and moving on, but change can be good too.

This is my classroom (mostly) stripped down and ready for hibernation this summer:
(you know you're a true blogger when you remember to take pictures of such things for the sole purpose of the blog!)

Nostalgia aside, I present my "to do" list for the next 84 days of freedom:
(in no particular order regarding timeline or excitement factor, except number 1 is really number 1 in every way! I'm blogging this because by writing it down, I'm hoping I have a better chance of doing all these things)   ;)

1. Spend lots of time with Braden soaking up that sweet smile and being momma instead of "Mrs. Hartsock"
2. Paint the kitchen and living/dining room
3. Exercise every day (no more excuses of being "too busy/tired after work")
4. Catch up on scrapbooking, paper and digital
5. Create a blog book (blurb.com) - am excited to try this!
6. Sort out our closets and garage and get rid of things we don't wear/use
7. Clean the "dump" room/storage room - this task is waaaaayyy overdue, but the Type A organizer in me is actually looking forward to it! In fact, it will probably get done this week
8. Read, read, read
9. Have carpet professionally cleaned or figure out how to rent one of those shampooer things and do it myself
10. Rearrange kitchen cabinets for babyproofing purposes
11. Wax and detail car
12. Learn/do baby sign language - we've been slackin' on this and really want to try it

Ok, so enough about me, and more about the star of the blog!

A shot of the little mister sleeping so sweetly with his tush in the air; this is a new sleep position - he's always been a "back to sleep" guy . . . but for about a week or so I have found him just like this in the morning:

And in other news, not only is Braden crawling, he has now mastered "pulling up" and is able to move around from one piece of furniture to the next!

Sometimes he even attempts to pull himself up onto things, but is not able to do that quite yet (thankfully! - I have a feeling that my moments of relaxation this summer vacation may be limited as much of the time will be spent (happily!) chasing after the little fella).

See what I mean?  The other day he insisted on using the coffee table as a jungle gym and worked for quite a long time on crawling through it (well over that bottom shelf part) - he alternates between being very pleased with himself/happy and frustrated/crying while achieving this feat.

That's all for now . . . I actually still have a professional development day tomorrow, so have to set the alarm and get up at the usual early time.

* updated 6/3 - as my dear sister pointed out, I really was not with this group of kids for 178 days since I  had 10 week off when Braden was born  . . .  so I guess it was more lik 128 days or so . . . All I have to say is that it FELT like 178 days!

I'm so jealous of your clean room! Looks great:-) Also, I'd vote for professionally having the carpets cleaned. We rented a "Rug Doctor" and it was not fun and didn't seem to do a very good job. The thing you pull is SO low that it hurt our backs so bad to do it! Just my opinion;-) Enjoy your summer!
