we ♥ summer

Where has June gone?  We've been loving our long, lazy(ish) summer days and all of the fun events that summer brings.

Last weekend Aunt Allie scored tickets for a Kernels baseball game! It was a great evening for baseball.

Herky was even there!

. . . and Braden got a high five from his favorite mascot :)

B also enjoyed the snowcone that he shared with Billy . . .

. . . but quickly grew tired, so we actually only lasted till the end of the third inning! :(

(It was around 8:30 when we left though, though, and since B had not napped very much that afternoon, that was about all he could handle.  We found out the next day that the game got pretty exciting though, with the Kernels coming back for the win in the last inning.  The rest of our crew didn't get home till midnightish, so we probably wouldn't have lasted for the whole game even if B had napped.)

Saturday was the Kalona Days parade!  This year Braden really got into it . . .

He loved the fire trucks,
"cycles" (Auntie Allie's fav part too!),
and of course, the tractors were a hit!

We also had fun spotting people we knew in the parade . . . though maybe we wished we hadn't spotted cousin Addie (then yelling/waving at her) because you can see what she threw our way! (If you can't see - she got us with a water balloon).

Braden and another cute parade-newbie were instructed by their daddies on the art of collecting candy at parades . . .

Once Braden figured out that the candy was really there for him to grab (and that it was candy!!!), he was eager to get it (a little too eager, perhaps!).

But he was willing to share his loot with Grandpa!

"This is fun, Mom!"
