Elise {17 months}

Here we go again - another month has flown by!

Some things to remember about our Miss Elise at 17 months:

• she is always on the GO.  Favorite toys right now are her baby stroller, the toy lawn mower, sorting blocks, and her play kitchen.  She loves to pour you a cup of tea!

• her personality continues to develop and she definitely knows what she wants/likes (as well as what she doesn't!) - she's silly, spunky, and sweet!

• Elise LOVES to laugh, and to make us laugh too.  She is quite the little clown sometimes!

• have I mentioned that she is always busy, busy, busy?  gotta keep a close eye on her!

• is getting tall!  Elise can reach the light switch by the fireplace, and is verrrry close to reading the door knobs. We are also learning that putting things "up" on the counter or a table top does not necessarily mean that said items are "safe."  (She's either going for the nail polish or the milk in this photo.)  And yeah, she still likes her bottles (only when going down for nap/bedtime).  I know it's time to put them away, but can she still be our baby?

• As mentioned in a previous post,  E has recently acquired a "look" that she flashes when things are not going her way . . . this is not the best picture, but kinda captures her funny expression of consternation.

• Elise is a great eater . . . and loves sweet corn!  Other favorite foods are yogurt, cottage cheese, most fruits, hamburgers, mac and cheese, applesauce - really she'll try just about anything.

• I don't have any recent pool pics (it's been cooler the last week or two - AND I have been busy working in my classroom preparing for school to start - so I fear our pool days may be pretty much over) . . . but it bears recording that Miss Elise is officially a fish.  Seriously.  She is jumping in the pool and loves to "swim" in water that is way over her head.  She does wear arm floaties, but refuses to use a tube/raft these days.  I am hoping it'll be warm enough for her to spend lots of time in the pool when we are in MN on vacation next week.  It'll also be fun to see if she likes riding on the boat . . . Last year she was just a few months old, so she didn't get to go out on the boat.  I have a feeling she will be a fan!
