July photo dump

It's nearing the end of July already . . . which means that it's also nearing panic time as we get set to launch another school year.  I spent the day yesterday at a math curriculum training, which was worthwhile and beneficial . . . BUT I'm not ready to think about actually going back to school quite yet!  We still have a couple weeks of summer to enjoy!

Here's a look back at a few things we've been up to this month . . .

Applesauce!

We picked apples and made applesauce one day last week with my mom.  It sounded like a good idea at the time, and was definitely a good idea when we got done, but mid-mess I was wondering if it would be worth it. . .

Elise liked picking the apples, and Braden did too (for a while).  He commented, "Mommy, some of these apples have owies!" (bruises).

Mid-mess.  But oh so worth it at the end to have home made applesauce!  We ended up making 16 quarts and 16 pints, I think.  Whew!

Lazy days at the pool . . .

We are of course enjoying every sunny, warm day in the water!  Check out B's hair prior to his haircut last week :)

We got a new waterproof camera that I had to "try out" . . . takes a little getting used to to take underwater pics - so these aren't the best, but are sort of fun. B LOVES them.

One of Braden's new favorite pool activities is diving for dive sticks . . .

Elise has "graduated" to arm floaties (she never did like being in an infant tube/floatie very well). She's doing a great job with the arm floaties, and loves to throw herself on her back to float, or lean forward on her belly and kick.

Her favorite place in the pool is just deeper than she can touch . . . she likes to float/"swim," but also likes to be able to paddle back to where she can touch the bottom.

Fun at the fair

We didn't make it to our county fair last week (it was HOT), but last night (it was perfect 75ish degree weather) we did go to the Johnson County fair.  Elise went on her very first carousel ride!

 (and loved it!).

Some friends generously gave us some extra tickets for rides, as they overestimated how many they'd need, and Braden had a blast riding some "big kid" rides.  Poor Miss E just had to watch.
