A "Spidey-riffic" Birthday

Braden is totally into all things Spiderman these days  - he sometimes even refers to himself as Spiderman ("Mom, I am not Braden. I am Spiderman!" - oy!).  So it was a not a surprise when he requested a Spiderman birthday party.

We kicked off the fun with Spiderman cupcakes to take to preschool on his actual birthday, Thursday.  This was our first go-round with taking treats to school.  He was very excited about the Spiderman cupcakes!  I thought they turned out pretty well for an amateur. :)

Thursday after school Billy and the kids met me in Iowa City for supper (I had an appt. right after school).  We enjoyed a yummy birthday supper at Old Chicago, then came home for presents and birthday cake.

New Hawkeye gear!

Make a wish!  By that time our birthday boy was getting pretty tired, and didn't even want cake - just a little more time to play with his new toys before heading to bed. (He was also very disappointed that the little cake I made him for his actual b-day was not a Spiderman cake - I guess the blue and red sprinkles just weren't enough.  We assured him that he would indeed have a real Spiderman cake for his party.) ;)

Saturday we invited our families over to help celebrate our new 5 year old!  B and E donned masks for the occasion. :)  Braden was so excited and kept asking if it was time for his party yet.

Here's the REAL cake (much more impressive!). Braden requested a Spiderman cake with white cake inside - a friend of mine made it and it was sooooo yummy.  B was thrilled!

Party time!  Don't these guys look THRILLED? ;)

After supper it was time to open gifts!

Then we enjoyed cake and ice cream . . .

Thanks everyone, for helping our big boy celebrate his special day!
